Will’s 1st Birthday Party

Why not start with the “main event”… 🙂  He did not disappoint..he loved his cake!

And he loved all of the happy faces looking at him!

This 1st birthday celebration kind of felt like a celebration for our whole family.  A baby’s first year is, of course, amazing. But, hard.  Really hard work.  It truly took our whole family to get us through this year successfully.

We just love him so much and are so thankful for all that he has taught us about love.

Of course, this son of a son of a sailor, had a nautical birthday party.  My mom and I had so much fun making the cake.

The “smash cake”…

AH!  One more cake photo…

Opening gifts, the way every 1st Birthday should be, surrounded by sisters and cousins!

Best gift ever? A GIANT BOX!! (Thank Leah!)  🙂

I had a strange obsession with paper crafts for this birthday party.  🙂  I think the mindlessness of cutting paper, stringing and gluing was a way (as strange as it may sound)  of finding some time to accept that our baby boy is one.

We’re always so thankful for all of the people who love our kids and who are there to help us celebrate these milestones.  William had a very Happy Birthday!
