What I Did On My Summer Vacation 2011

So a few years ago, I came home from vacation and quickly jotted down my Top 10 Memories of our week at the beach.  Last year I posted that list (with photos, naturally) here.  So…here it is… my Top 10 (in no particular order) from our amazing trip to Hilton Head.

#1 Will.  Having salty lips from kissing his chubby cheeks, watching him explore the sand and ocean…it was all amazing. He loved every minute of it and I loved watching him.

#2 Watching Corey’s parents (Nana and Papa) enjoy their grand kids so very much.  They were awesome!

#3 One moment when I looked up and down the beach and saw people JUST RELAXING.  Not on the phone, not running a thousand errands.  Just being.

#4 Watching the girls swim.  Oh man! Our girls were swimming this year! Like actually swimming! It was awesome!!

#5 Having the time to just sit with the girls every morning and play games.  (Note to self: MAKE time to do this at home).

#6 Three words (thanks to the fabulous taste of my mother-in-law) Tito’s Handmade Vodka.

#7 (And in no direct relation to #6…at least I don’t think so…) All week, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that I was standing on the edge, right on the edge of this new ‘schedule’ and new ‘school experience’ this new life that will be effecting our entire family called Cate-Has-To-Go-To-Kindergarten-When-We-Get-Home!

Change is tough for me, and I thought about this big change a’comin a lot this week.  I tried to remember that, like that great big ocean I was staring at, some things are out of our hands and sometimes its just time to let go.  (I know, geez Jaim! Relax! You’re on vacation!) 🙂

#8 A dinner date with my incredibly handsome husband.  In which we sat.  And chewed our food.  And had a chance to talk about our family and our amazing childhoods and how blessed we are to have been raised by such amazing people and how blessed we are by the little people we are raising.

#9 Watching Will really enter into the “I am completely obsessed with my daddy (and Papa!) phase.”  He had to be held by Corey in the water, he asked for Papa as soon as he got up in the morning, he insisted that his sippy cup be in a coolie just like Daddy’s beer…it was so funny!

#10 Not getting back in our car ALL WEEK LONG!  Love.
