We did it! We all survived our first year of ‘real’ school! Cate had the most amazing Kindergarten experience with the most wonderful teacher we could have ever asked for. We are so thankful that this was such a positive year for all of us.
The last day of school was full of smiles, for the most part. Cate did get a little emotional about missing her teacher and ‘never getting to be a kindergartner again’. As a Mom, I mark time with practically everything. You know, “this is the last Christmas that I’ll have a nursing baby!” or “This is the last year I’ll have all of my babies at home with me” or “Ohmygosh! My kids will be 1 year older next time we’re at the beach!”. For Cate, this was the first time that she realized a year had gone by. It was her first (of many) marks of time. 🙁 Which is sad, but good, but, you know, sad still.
We all waited for our big girl to get off of the bus…
And this was the first thing she did…kick off her shoes and swing! Ahhhhhhhh summer! Ahhhhhhh childhood! Life. Is. So. Good.
These images are so refreshing and so innocent to me. I love everything about them, and of course, this amazing little girl. Every little kid should get to come home on the last day of school and swing. We are thankful that we can provide such a carefree environment for our kids to just be kids. I would like to put this innocence in a bottle and seal it with a cork. I know someday I’ll need to open that bottle and drink it down, I know how fast this time will go. For now, we’re all just going to really enjoy our summer together. 🙂
