Cate has finally lost her first tooth. It’s been wiggly for 6 weeks, at least. Cate’s reaction to this whole “first wiggly tooth experience” has been so typical of her cautious personality. 🙂 She was freaked out at first wiggle and wouldn’t touch the tooth at all. Then, when it became obvious that the tooth needed to come out, there were tears…Would it hurt? How can it come out? I can’t do it, Mommy, I juuuuust caaaan’t DO IT! Then, on Wednesday this week, she bit into a chicken nugget at Wendy’s and out the tooth came, no biggie. Like most major things so far (potty training comes to mind) she over-thinks the situation at first but then, once she comes to terms with it, accepts it with a smile. She just needs time to adjust, time to think.
Today is Friday, and after much discussion, planning, and letter writing, she’s decided that she can handle the whole “Tooth Fairy Thing” and has left the tooth in her new Tooth Pillow. She’s so funny, this first born of ours. She’s so cautious and careful and we love every single quirk, every single question, every single ounce of her.
Her note to the Tooth Fairy says “I am scared to leave my tooth, but you can keep it. Please leave the letter. Love, Cate Lenhart”
She’s happy…but not quite sure…
Hugging her tooth good-bye…hope she can sleep tonight!
