This Thanksgiving we are thankful for our little turkey, Cate, who’s birthday happens to fall on this wonderful holiday. Thanksgiving eight years ago, we were having a quiet day at home in Cincinnati grilling steak and salmon with Corey’s mom and dad. They went back to Canton after the weekend only to drive back down just a few days later for the birth of our baby girl. Both Lenharts and my parents drove through a terrible rain storm that night to make it down in time. It was a whirlwind of a day, a fast and furious labor, some of the most frightening moments of my life (hello?! there was a human growing in me that whole time?!), followed by days, (then weeks) of no sleep. We were totally floored at how much we loved this new little spit-up machine and terrified at how little we knew about her. Our lives were forever changed, and truthfully, I don’t know who we would be without our babies. Cate has one of the kindest little souls I have ever met. She is always happy, positive and generally thrilled with life. She is a little worrier and takes her time making decisions. We love everything about her and could not be more proud of every little thing that is Cate. She’s 8! Holy cow, how did this happen?!
I came home from shooting one Sunday earlier this month and the sun was still shining…I had a feeling it may be the some of the last evening sun this month. I threw a dress at Cate, ran a brush through her hair and ran out for a few birthday shots. And, to tell you the truth, it was one of the least-stressful sessions I’ve had with one of my own kiddos…didn’t take much time to plan or stress, and Cate and I had a really fun, spontaneous, time!
We absolutely adore that toothless smile. ♥
I sneak-peeked this one on my biz page and I am SO in love with it, like sooooooooo in love…
But, you know I like to keep it real…these were some of the frames that got me to the gorgeous shot above, the real-life Cate. 😀
We had some fun playing with some sheer fabric before the sun set completely.
Happy Birthday, sweet girl. We love you so much and could not be more thankful for YOU!
