Anna is at the age where the bedtime routine has to be just right. It starts off with a tub with her big sister, where there is lots of “Pretend I’m the swim teacher…” or “Pretend I’m a mermaid…” After teeth are brushed and hair is dried, it’s time for lotion and jammies. On this night, Anna got a special foot massage from her Daddy.
She’s still such a little peanut, isn’t she?
Stories, two…or three, after jammies are on…
Then, its tuck in time. And here’s where it all has to be just right. She MUST have “kitty” in her right hand and “dolphin” in her left. Her blankie MUST be covering her with the “dots” facing up. Next, her sheet has to come almost up to her neck, followed by her comforter. Cinderella, who always sleeps next to her, must also be properly covered up.
She likes two songs at this point, and almost always gets super giggly during them (It’s one of the best parts of my day). Just before you leave the room, you must turn on her fan and music (If you turn her music on before you’re ready to leave, you’ll have to start it over). While you stand in her doorway, she sings her “Goodnight Song” to you which goes “Goodnight, Sleep good, I looooooove you!”. Then she blows a kiss and says, “And one more thing!” and tells you one last thought that’s popped into her head.
Some nights it can be. well, a little exhausting :), but most of the time, it’s one of the sweetest parts of our day!
