Our sweet little Bugga is 4. She has grown up so much the past year. When I reflect on this year with Anna, I am totally overwhelmed with thoughts and emotions. She’s grown so much and yet, she’s still so small.
It’s so fitting to be posting my baby girl’s birthday photos so near to my birthday, because this girl is totally me. She thinks like me, she acts like me…she is everything my mother always wished I would have. As in, “Some day! Young lady! God willing! You’ll have a daughter that acts just like you! I just hope I live long enough to see it!” 🙂
Anna is the bringer of joy to our home. She is giggly and funny, sweet and sensitive and so very loving.
I believe that Anna is still trying to figure out her place. Up until now, she’s just done everything her big sister had done (and she does so adore her big sister). But, with the addition of William, I think that she’s seeing more that she a can make decisions and be the “big” one. For example, when Cate took ballet this summer, Anna decided to take gymnastics. We couldn’t be more thrilled with her independence. With her loving heart and strong mind, I just can’t wait to see where she’ll go. 🙂
Last year, we did kind of the over-the-top Cinderella theme for photos. This year, I just wanted a simple setting and some beautiful light. So, we tried to take these photos several times in a big field near my Aunt’s house. But, every time we scheduled a date, a massive thunderstorm would creep up. Until finally, my Aunt Becky emailed and said, “Guess what…the field has been mowed!” Grrr…
So plan B was this lovely field of flowers close to our house. And don’t you know, the second we stepped onto that field, my beautiful evening light disappeared behind a cloud. Even so, I was thrilled with how the photos turned out and Anna was thrilled being in a field of flowers saying, “Mommy! I love it in here!” 🙂 In the photo below, as she was walking, she said that the flowers were holding her hands.
Our beautiful, sweet, smart, creative, funny, joyful daughter is 4 and we couldn’t be more thankful for every smile, every laugh, every sass, and every minute we spend with her. Happy Birthday, Bugs!
